Hello friends, I would like to provide an introduction to Drupal because, in September, I obtained a Drupal certification due to my office needs. I want to share the skills I have gained, hoping they will be useful for all of you. I also have experience with WordPress and have developed several WordPress plugins. However, due to my office’s requirements, I decided to explore Drupal.
We’ll start this introduction to Drupal by understanding its meaning. Drupal is a flexible and powerful open-source content management system (CMS) used to build various types of websites, ranging from simple blogs to business portals and complex web applications. With its modular capabilities, Drupal allows users to customize features and designs through thousands of available themes and modules. Drupal is also known for its security, scalability, and support from an active global developer community.
Drupal History
It would feel odd not to mention Drupal’s history, wouldn’t it? Drupal was first developed in 2000 by Dries Buytaert as a personal project. In 2001, Drupal was released as open-source software, allowing a global community to contribute. In a short time, Drupal became a popular platform for building community, organizational, and government websites. With regular updates and innovations, Drupal has continued to evolve into one of the leading CMS platforms in the world.
Why Drupal?
Here are six reasons why we choose Drupal, and these truly hold when I tried building a website using Drupal. The six reasons to choose Drupal are:
- High Flexibility: Drupal offers full customization through adjustable modules and themes, making it suitable for various types of websites.
- Guaranteed Security: Drupal has a strong reputation for security, backed by an active security team and regular updates.
- Scalability: It can handle high-traffic websites and evolving needs, making it ideal for both small businesses and large enterprises.
- Active Community: Supported by a global community of developers and users, Drupal provides continuous support and updates.
- Advanced Content Management: Enables complex content management with detailed access controls and structured workflows.
- SEO-Friendly: Built-in features and modules help optimize websites for search engines.
